Best toby carvery I've been to. Great food, great staff. Going to make this my go-to. Only issues I had is with the food running out and having to awkwardly wait for 5 mins for them to restock.

We went on Monday for breakfast first time in approx 3 years wow all I can say is what a drop in food standard I would really like to leave zero stars only item on the buffet which was of a acceptable standard was the sausages Bacon couldn't even cut it over cooked dried out Fried eggs looked like they had been out a hour dried horrible Baked beans honestly were sitting in watery thin sauce who knows why they were like that The potatoes were not nice at all 2 crusts of bread left for toast Obviously nobody checking the servery Very low standard waste of £18 for breakfast and orange juice and tea Other people actually complained while we were eating would we return no unless there was a massive improvement not value for money at all Cannot believe manament allow this poor standard

Booked this as taking my mother out for dinner. We were attended to within ten minutes and a waitress took our order for drinks then came back for the starters order . Food was good, bread wasn't great with the prawn cocktail. We then preceded to wait for nearly half hour for the plates to be cleared , in the meantime I asked our waitress about ordering mains, the reply was "I"m going home it's the end of my shift someone will be out shortly. " another ten minutes then i had to ask another member of staff about clearing the table, I think she may have been a senior because all I had from her was "its the crossover in shifts we are really short-staffed and we only have one member of staff waiting on tables". Well what part of that is anything to do with me. Sounds like bad staff management and very poor customer service. I have worked in customer service for over 30 years and if I'd have spoken to a customer like that I would have been disciplined. The staff member was very abrupt and very rude This spoilt our afternoon and I won't be visiting again anytime soon Please retrain your staff.

Food was great, the service was okay but we're very busy with funeral and it being half term. Bet amazing when not in on a school holiday. Only gave 4 starts for atmosphere as was on a table of two squished in a corner but the bigger tables seem to be nice. But was only there to eat so wasn't overly bothered about the table. Make sure to download the tobby app as it could save you a lot.

Food was ok, very tight with the meat I have to say. The 2 guys behind me said exactly the same thing. At the rate they portion the meat out, you could feed the world 765 times over. I had barely anything on my plate. The service was great though, I had a young girl serve me who was very attentative. She also informed me that they do not get the tips, the tips go to management. I said I will not be bothering then. That is a typical, and very poor indictment of the modern corporate greedy business model. I hadn't been to a Toby carvery for years and will not be returning. There are alot better carvery out there who treat their staff better and actually give you a full portion of meat. Their xmas works bash for the staff is in March or April I think she may have said. Let that sink in.

Real people in a chain environment. We were the worst type of customer, no booking, peak time, off-menu requirements! Sunday dinner time, I’d promised my grown up son with learning difficulties “Ham and Eggs” based on an internet search. Seated straight away, served by the lovely Tracy and explained the situation. The cogs whirred, the frown appeared, she looked at Oliver and back to me then a small smile broke out… “I’m not promising anything, but give me 2 minutes…” One minute later and she re-appeared. A meeting had taken place between herself and the mystery Mr Jackson in the kitchen and a plan had been hatched. Five further minutes and Mr J, the fried egg ninja had worked his magic and two perfect examples and a generous portion of sliced gammon appeared ready for a vegetable choice to be added. We’ll leave it between Tracy and Mr Jackson what the currency of favours is at Toby Carvery Chaddesden, but safe to say Oliver and I left with a spring in our steps after a thoroughly agreeable experience. Thank you to the whole team.

Things have improved considerably since my last review and the refurbish, and can say, the food was cooked well and presented to a good standard. Staff were welcoming, as usual, and tables clean. One member of staff (Rhianna) that we would like to mention her, for a pleasant manner, and after watching her, go about her work, showed a very conscientious work ethic. Thank You ------------------------------------------- Previous review We arrived at 12.00 for a Carvery we joined the queue, while the kitchen staff were putting the gravy out. When we started to get served, we noticed not many were selecting the turkey. It wasn't until we got close to the meat we realised why, this was about 12.15, so we were put off. The Toby suppose to pride themselves on fresh cooked food, well this looked like it had been kept from the day before. It looked dry and hardly any meat left on it. Not what we would expect to be offered at the start of the lunch time. On a positive note the staff were polite and welcoming.
